Chicken Truth for the Soul
Dad told a funny story today with a thread of truth. He had originally heard the story from Charlie ”Tremendous” Jones. (A motivational speaker that had his hay day back in the 70s and 80s) I will try to do it justice.
There was a young man that worked in the meat department at a local super market. One evening as he was closing up, an older lady came in to get some last minute poultry. She came up to the meat counter and asked to see the chickens. Having only one chicken left, he reached down into the ice and pulled it out. She looked at it closely and then asked, “Got anything smaller?”
Eager to please, he took the chicken, plunged it back down into the ice, and rustled it around. He pulled it back out and placed it on the scale, pushing up on the scale with his thumb to make the chicken appear lighter.
The older lady then exclaimed, “Perfect! I’ll take both of them”.
I thought this story was so sweet. It feels natural to me to embellish the truth to get what I want, but it seems like I always get stuck in a lie. My great grandpa always said:
“If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember what you said.”
-still working on it…

I once worked in the meat department at a local grocery store. I hated that job. I told them the truth about it one day and got fired. So I went to law school and learned how to make just about anything look or sound like the truth. Then I sued that grocery store for wrongful termination and took them for billions of dollars. Okay, that last part was a lie.

You should tell the story about your grandpas hot dog shop downtown. That’s a good one.

Good Story… haha. I find that I always find myself caught in a lie too… so that is why a lot of times it’s easier to just tell the truth
Well anyways, it was nice seeing you today Rick… too bad we couldn’t talk longer… but how are you doing? How’s the band thing going? Etc etc etc… let me know
